Nelly Prepares Fans For Comeback Album

Almost a decade after dropping his debut album, Country Grammar, rapper Nelly is plotting a comeback with a new LP.

Although he failed to reveal the album's title or an exact release date, Nelly gave fans a sample of his new sound at a show in Las Vegas earlier this week.

"I want to try some new sh*t from my new album," he told the crowd. "This is my first time being able to rock this sh*t."

He then performed two songs, 1000 Stacks and Angel Eyes, a ballad.

The rapper went on give a few details about the album, including why he decided to record it in Vegas, says the Las Vegas Sun.

"The new album is sounding incredible," he said. "It comes out in November so be checkin' for it....I've been here for about a month...Recording in Vegas is always a good influence, especially the type of music I do...especially when you're doing a lot of party music and a lot of uplifting music and trying to, you know, get people the right spirits...It's going to be a lot of energy. I think they'll get a real understanding of what it's like to be in my position, so to speak, as far as having to start over and grind your way back to a position where a lot of people thought that you would never leave. I might be working on something with Janet [Jackson] and a few things like that, so we'll see what happens."

Brandy has reportedly been dropped by her label Epic Records. And their reason was that her album sales for her comeback album Human were piss poor. The album was released in December and has only sold 196,509 units to date according to SoundScan. And thanks to the recession, nobody’s trying to roll with those types of numbers.

It’s also being reported that Brandy has split from her management team at Roc Nation. They split due t “creative differences.”

, Kazemi was under alot of stress because her roommate was moving out, she was paying payments on the Escalade as well as a Kia, and she suspected McNair was seeing another woman.

WOW! not a good look on his race.. SO he was cheating on his wonderful wife..And sleeping outside his race with a 20 year old! then sleeping on her with another...

McNair just opened a restaurant named Gridiron9, he was there almost everyday and used that as his excuse for being away from his WOMEN so much.

The Escalade was NOT paid for, he co-signed for her, and put it under his restaurant’s name as a business vehicle.

After she found out that there was another "side ho" besides herself and then receiving a DUI. She asked a guy she worked with if he knew where she could get a gun being that she was only 20 and he said he would sell her his for $100. She shot him 4 times then sat down beside him and shot herself.

Michael Jackson has three of the five best-selling albums in the U.S. for the second week in a row. Number Ones sold 339,000 copies this week and would have held at #1 on The Billboard 200 if catalog albums were eligible to compete on that chart. (The 2003 compilation sold a little more than twice as many copies this week as NOW 31, the album that holds the #1 spot.) Thriller sold 187,000 copies and would have jumped from #3 to #2 if catalog albums were invited to the party. The Essential Michael Jackson sold 125,000 copies and would have dropped from #2 to #5. (Billboard excludes catalog albums from the big chart on the theory that new albums need the spotlight the chart provides more than past hits do.)

Jackson's catalog of solo albums sold 800,000 copies this week, up from 422,000 copies last week. (This was the first full week following Jackson's death on June 25. Last week's total reflected just four days of sales.) Billboard reports that 82% of the Jackson albums sold this week were CDs (vs. digital downloads). Last week, 43% of the Jackson albums sold were CDs. I think this shows that on a special album, people want the CD as a keepsake. (What a retro concept!)

Jackson's total song download sales this week, including hits with his brothers, stand at 2.2 million downloads, down just a little from 2.6 million last week. A total of 47 songs that feature Jackson are listed on the Hot Digital Songs chart. (This is down just a bit from last week's eye-popping total of 50.)

Number Ones has sold 564,000 copies so far this year, which puts it at #18 on Nielsen/SoundScan's running list of the best-selling albums of 2009. If it keeps going like this, it could topple Taylor Swift's Fearless as the #1 album for the year-to-date. (Fearless has sold 1,352,000 copies since Jan. 1.) This will (in all likelihood) be only the third time in Nielsen/SoundScan history that an album by a deceased performer has ranked among the year's top 10. 2Pac's All Eyez On Me was the #6 album of 1996 (he died on Sept. 13 of that year). The Notorious B.I.G.'s Life After Death was the #6 album of 1997 (he died on March 9 of that year).

Number Ones holds at #1 on the Catalog Albums chart. (Catalog albums are albums that are more than 18 months old, have fallen below #100 on The Billboard 200 and don't have a current radio single.) Jackson owns the entire top 10 this week, counting a Jackson 5 album. The Essential Michael Jackson holds at #1 on the Digital Albums chart. The collection sold 53,000 digital copies this week.

This is the third time that Thriller has posted sales of 100,000 or more units in a week in the Nielsen/SoundScan era (which dates to 1991). wow!


Jackson has five songs in the top 10 on Hot Digital Songs this week: "Man In The Mirror" at #2, "Billie Jean" at #4, "Thriller" at #5, "The Way You Make Me Feel" at #7 and "Beat It" at #10. Later today, I'll post a Chart Watch Extra in which I count down Jackson's 40 most songs with the most cumulative paid downloads. The list shows which of Jackson's songs have best stood the test of time-and which haven't.

Mistress Shot McNair While He Was Sleeping

Via CNN Wire:

Twenty-year-old Sahel Kazemi shot Steve McNair while he was sleeping on the sofa in his Nashville condo, before shooting herself in the head, police said Wednesday. Kazemi shot McNair in the head, then fired twice into his chest before shooting him again in the head, police said.

Authorities said in the days leading up to the shooting, Kazemi told a friend her life was “messed up” and she wanted to end it. Kazemi also believed her relationship with McNair — a married father of four — was unraveling and that he was involved with another woman.

This is definitely a story of when cheating goes wrong.

According to Fox 5, trouble may have started two weeks ago when Kazemi and McNair planned a trip to Las Vegas. Kazemi flew from Tennessee to Nevada to meet McNair, but he never arrived. “This story fuels speculation that McNair was beginning to pull away from the affair.” Two days before the deaths, Kazemi was arrested for DUI. McNair was with her but not charged, and later made her bail. Sometime during that week she had told an associate that her “personal life was all screwed up,”. She had mounting debts and had been unable to sell her car. Also, her roommate had decided to move which would have doubled her rent. (<== I’m wondering “why not sell the escalade??” this part of the story is shaky).

McNair and Kazemi met up late Friday night (July 3rd) at McNair’s condo after he had been hanging out with friends. The next afternoon his roommate walked in and saw McNair lying on the couch and Kazemi lying on the floor but had no idea that anything was wrong until he spotted blood. Officers found a gun under her body and there were no signs of forced entry.

McNair’s wife of 12 years and mother of 2 of his four kids claims that she didn’t know that he was having an affair with Sahel before they were found dead on the 4th of July. According to TMZ, they were in the process of selling their 2.9 million dollar home but their realtor claims they weren’t selling because of a split. They were looking to buy a home on the lake.

Numerous sources are reporting on an alleged ongoing feud between Lil Kim and Faith Evans and how the longstanding tension almost overflowed into blows this past weekend

It has long been rumored that Faith and Kim, who were both involved in personal relationships with Notorious B.I.G., do not get along, but the ill feelings reportedly erupted when the two crossed paths at Diddy's infamous White Party in L.A.

As in Jackson's life, Today's public memorial at the downtown Staples Center includes the spectacle surrounding the show — legal drama, screaming fans, star power, live worldwide broadcast, unsavory accusations, even a parade of elephants — all adding up to what could be the biggest celebrity send-off of all time.

On the eve of the memorial, activity was spotted late Monday at the Forest Lawn Cemetery involving the Jackson family. The cemetery is the location where relatives were expected to hold a private funeral.

-->La Toya Jackson, wearing sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat, was seen being driven away from the cemetery. KCAL-TV showed helicopter footage of a hearse backing up to the Hall of Liberty — a circular building at the cemetery that contains a 1,200-seat auditorium — to deliver a casket.

-->A few hours later, the casket was reloaded into the hearse and delivered to another nearby building, this time covered in a blue cloth.

The family announced that participants will include Stevie Wonder, Mariah Carey, Usher, Lionel Richie, Kobe Bryant, Jennifer Hudson, John Mayer and Martin Luther King III. Sunshine told ABC that Queen Latifah also will be performing.

UPDATE:10:00 am ct Michael Jackson's casket will be taken to the singer's star-studded memorial in downtown Los Angeles, adding to the spectacle that promises to be among the biggest celebrity sendoffs of all time.

"Mr. Jackson's remains will be going to the Staples Center. We're not giving any details," Los Angeles Police Chief William Bratton said .

Jackson service a national viewing experience

A giant audience formed for Michael Jackson's memorial service, as millions gathered in public, in front of televisions and at computer screens to experience the mourning of the celebrated pop star.

Chants of "Michael! Michael!" rang out in Harlem, where about 1,000 gathered to watch the memorial service on a giant screen live from Los Angeles' Staples Center.

A steady stream of fans — wearing Jackson T-shirts and listening to hits like "Billie Jean" — visited the singer's boyhood home in Gary, Ind.

"I felt like I needed to pay homage to 'the greatest,'" said 49-year-old, retired chemical operator Jackie Ford, who used to do Jackson's moonwalk and drove to Gary from Aberdeen, Miss.

The media-saturated event was expected to rival the online audience of even President Barack Obama's January inauguration — which similarly was a daytime event witnessed by many on their computers at work.

Aside from the wall-to-wall coverage by the TV networks and cable news channels, the memorial service was streamed online by many news outlets and Web sites, including Hulu.com, MySpace.com and The New York Times' Web site. The Associated Press' online video network also offered a live broadcast.

In Detroit, where his career was launched with Motown Records, hundreds of people filled into the auditorium at Detroit's Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, where the memorial service was to be shown on a giant screen.

"I think he was somebody who really did change the style of music," said Jonathan Contreras, a 23-year-old college student from Westland, Mich. "They call him the King of Pop. I call him the King of Music."

Outside the White House in Washington, Rocky Twyman, a community activist, asked tourists to sign a "book of condolences" for Jackson's family.

"We consider him a national hero," said Twyman. "We want people to remember the good things he did."

Jackson generated the most tweets per second since Obama was elected president in November. Akamai's Net Usage Index, which monitors global news consumption online, found that Web traffic to news sites increased by about 50 percent.

Traffic flowed to YouTube, where many celebrated Jackson by watching his iconic music videos. Last week, Internet video research firm Visible Measures said Jackson's 14-minute, 1983 video "Thriller" had been watched more than 8.5 million times online since his death.

At the same time, others have grown tired of the continual coverage of Jackson's death, believing it has overshadowed more important news and that Jackson .
