Hundreds of fans poured into Hattiesburg to pay their respects to the Mount Olive native.Among those in attendance, were current and former NFL players. Some teared up as they spoke.
Nashville police have said McNair, 36, was shot four times July 4 by Sahel Kazemi, 20, who then killed herself in a condo McNair shared with a friend.The public memorial service was held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Reeves Funeral Home in McNair's hometown of Mount Olive. Hundreds lined up to honor the NFL star, and officials said they thought nearly 5,000 people attended the service in the town of only 983 people.

A standing only crowd of friends and family filled the tents near the vault bearing the casket.
