Rihanna’s Full 20/20 Interview

da BLITZ in the INDUSTRY

Rihanna’s 20/20 interview with Diane Sawyer aired tonight. And she spoke about what happened with Chris Brown on the night in question, why she went back to him, what she thinks about his apology, and how and why she left him for good.

Diane: When you hear some of his fans say “she must have did something to make him do this”, how do you react?
It’s ignorance, I can say that because even if I hit him first, that makes it okay for him to do that to me? They kind of give an excuse for what he did?

Diane: Did you hit him?
No I did not hit him. It was a verbal argument.

>>>UM IT WAS BORING, AND DIDN'T AS MANY PEOPLE WATCH IT LIKE THEY THOUGHT.

CB couldn’t wait til tonight. Concerned as to what Ri-Ri will say specifically about the night of Feb 8th, Brown’s camp just released this statement.

“While I respect Rihanna’s right to discuss the specific events of February 8, I maintain my position that all of the details should remain a private matter between us,” he said in the statement. “I do appreciate her support and wish her the best. I am extremely sorry for what I did, and I accept accountability for my actions. At this point, I am taking the proper steps to learn about me and grow from my mistakes. I only hope that others in similar situations can learn from our experience as well. Abuse of any kind is always wrong. The rest I leave it to God.”

Sammie is back

da BLITZ in the INDUSTRY

Many people are unaware that R&B-singer Sammie parted ways with his long term management in late Spring, leaving him to work harder to stay afloat in this crazy auto-tune-transformed industry. In the Summer, Sammie was featured on Soulja Boy's No.1 single, "Kiss Me Through the Phone," proving that true vocals are still appreciated, despite the use of auto-tune. The chart topping single brought Sammie's fans back to life. To follow-up, he went back to the studio to create his mixtape "Swag&B" feat. D.J. Holiday, which had more than 100,000 downloads in its first week!

Sammie readies his fans with the release his first EP early next month. With a kids foundation in the works, and a new studio album, Coming Of Age, at the top of the year -- Get ready for Sammie to take 2010 by storm.

You know I'm not gonna give too much away --preview pics will be up next week

Review: `Precious'

da BLITZ in the INDUSTRY

As Hollywood closed specialty divisions that aimed for quality and personal stories, as studios focus more and more on superhero sagas and action blockbusters, cinema fans have rightly wondered, who's left to make great American movies?

For one, the makers of "Precious: Based on the Novel `Push' by Sapphire," who assembled some of the unlikeliest ingredients — Mariah Carey, Mo'Nique, and a lead actress plucked from an anonymous casting call — to create a wondrous work of art.

The film isn't easy to watch and will test your tolerance for despicable behavior as a long history of physical abuse and incest unfolds involving an illiterate, obese Harlem schoolgirl.

Yet "Precious" — both the film and its grandly resilient title character — will steal your heart. Lee Daniels, in just his second film as director, crafts a story that rises from the depths of despair to a place of genuine hope.

This isn't a fairy tale. "Precious" doesn't strain to present some happy-ever-after transformation that simply never could happen considering the harsh reality in which it's set.

Rather, the film reflects an inner spirit everyone can recognize, that role-playing game we indulge in to get us through our big and small hard times, imagining our lives are different, better. That we are different and better.

Claireece "Precious" Jones literally wills it to be so, and as played in a phenomenal screen debut by Gabourey Sidibe, she makes an utterly believable and electrifying rise from an urban abyss of ignorance and neglect.

Adapted from the novel "Push" by Sapphire — who taught reading and writing for eight years in Harlem, Brooklyn and the Bronx, to students like Precious and her peers — the film is simultaneously tender and savage as Precious learns to apply that simple verb: Push yourself, push your boundaries, if others try to stop you, push them out of the way.

(The film debuted as "Push" at January's Sundance Film Festival, where it won both the top jury prize and the award as the audience's favorite film; the title was changed to avoid confusion with Dakota Fanning's sci-fi adventure "Push," released last February.)

When we first encounter her, Precious is pregnant with her second child by her own father, who raped her repeatedly while her mother, Mary (Mo'Nique), looked the other way and later heaped abuse on her daughter out of jealousy and spite.

To call Mary a viper would disrespect the other human reptiles that walk among us. She is the lowest of the low, a woman in need of new and nastier adjectives than loathsome and contemptible to do her justice.

Mo'Nique, best known for raunchy, low-brow comedy (and who coincidentally played a character named Precious in Daniel's directing debut, "Shadowboxer"), embodies Mary perfectly, not as a villain but a woman too ignorant, too unaware to fathom what a horrible person she is. When Mo'Nique's Mary says she did her best for Precious, you believe that she believes it. Mo'Nique should win an Oscar for this performance.

The reverse of Mary is Blu Rain (the radiant Paula Patton), a teacher at an alternative school where Precious finally begins to learn after years of getting good grades while remaining unable to read and write at public school.

Blu is chief among the guardian angels that come into Precious' life. Her benefactors also including Lenny Kravitz as a maternity-ward nurse, Sherri Shepherd as a worker at her new school and a room full of vibrant young women who become more like sisters than classmates to Precious.

Carey delivers warmly and honestly in a small role as a social worker, a surprising turnaround from her laughable musical bomb "Glitter."

While veteran performers reveal previously unsuspected depth, Sidibe is an out-of-nowhere revelation. She was in college in the Bronx, where she had appeared in some campus theater, when she turned up for open auditions on "Precious."

Sidibe's Precious is scary, funny, fragile, willful, exasperating, ferocious, sweet, indignant, joyful — while at heart remaining a little girl in desperate need of just one hand to hold, one finger to point her the way. She and Mo'Nique both could be going home with Oscars.

Geoffrey Fletcher's screenplay mirrors Sapphire's first-person novel, allowing Precious to blossom in her own words as her confidence builds as a writer.

Daniels seamlessly blends the stark awfulness of Precious' life with fantasy sequences in which she's a star, interviewed at red-carpet premieres, performing at the Apollo, then ultimately and lovingly coaxes his heroine into a better reality somewhere in between.

Since its Sundance premiere, the film has gained its own guardian angels. Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry were so charmed by the film, they signed on as executive producers, while Mary J. Blige wrote a song to add to the soundtrack.

You could call "Precious" one of those little miracles of independent film, but you'd be wrong. "Precious" and all its disparate ingredients constitute one very big miracle — and a glimpse of what American cinema still can be, whether or not Hollywood cares about making good films.

"Precious," a Lionsgate release, is rated R for child abuse including sexual assault, and pervasive language. Running time: 109 minutes. Four stars out of four.

The QUEEN Of POP/RnB JANET JACKSON is Back!

da BLITZ in the INDUSTRY

http://thisrecording.files.wordpress.com/2008/02/3janet-jackson.jpg

Maintaining comfort and positive energy at home, Janet Jackson has invited an ABC camera crew and Robin Roberts to her Malibu, California home for an upcoming television special.

Titled "In the Spotlight with Robin Roberts: Janet Jackson,' the forthcoming television special will feature the "Make Me" singer speaking for the first time (at length) since the death of her brother and fellow entertainer Michael Jackson.

Noted to be very private and close to the King of Pop, Jackson will likely speak at length about his legacy and in turn her career and possible outlook on life since June.

As previously reported, Janet Jackson is due to release a hits collection titled "Number Ones" just in time for the holiday season (more on the collection here...) and is said to be at work on a follow up to the 2008 album "Discipline".

In related news, Janet Jackson looks to be confirmed for a special appearance on the hit reality competition 'The X Factor'.

According to popular Janet Jackson fansite Janet Love, X Factor organizers have confirmed the "Scream" and "Feedback" singer for a December 6 appearance.

"Following numerous internet rumours, Janet Love has spoken to a senior source at ITV who has confirmed to us that the performance is definitely scheduled," reports Janet Love. "Bosses are currently trying to persuade Janet to take on a role in mentoring the acts on top of her performance."

The idea of Jackson performing on The X Factor is not far fetched as she is already set to perform at Capital FM's Jingle Ball and may be in talks to perform at popular venue G-A-Y. An official announcement has yet to be made however.

"In the Spotlight with Robin Roberts: Janet Jackson' will air on ABC Wednesday, November 18 at 10 pm/et.

CHRIS BROWN YRB spread & MTV INTERVIEW on 2nite

da BLITZ in the INDUSTRY

VIBE’s not the only one supporting Breezy.

>>>>ALSO BE SURE TO CATCH HIS INTERVIEW ON TV BEFORE RIHANNA'S TONITE ON MTV 6pm EST.

Well, thank you Rihanna and Chris Brown! I’m not a conspiracy theorist or anything but I wouldn’t be surprised if Beyonce and Lady Gaga pushed back their highly anticipated Video Phone premiere to a later date because of the hoopla around Chrianna Gate (which seemed to have sparked back up again). Last night, MTV released more footage from Chris Brown’s interview with Sway that will air today at 6pm est. In the interview he talks about being scrutinized after his interview with Larry King:

I was so nervous. I was super nervous. I didn’t know what to think [going in]. ‘Man, I’m going to get on here, and they’re going to chew me up and everybody is just going to go in on me.’ So I was more scared than anything.[There's] really not too much preparing you can do. I did a lot of media training and a lot of stuff like that, and it kind of wasn’t genuine to me. Everything I was saying was from my heart, but it was kind of controlled. “It wasn’t that kind of situation where I could be me,” he said. The point of how I felt and what I wanted to get across came out [in the CNN interview], but I think at the end of the day, with any interview, even with this interview, I’m going to get public scrutiny or criticism regardless of what I say

Meanwhile, Rihanna’s interview with ABC will air later tonight at 10pm. Almost immediately after Good Morning America ran a preview of the interview, Chris Brown’s DJ tweeted “MAD!!!! I need the real story to come out now!!! This is sum bullcrap!!!! Awwww man I am Mad!!!! Truth will come to Light !!! It always does!!!!“. The National Coalition of Men felt some kind of way about Rihanna’s Glamour Interview and released a press release yesterday stating that “Rihanna Should Discuss Her Own Reported Violence”.

CHRIS BROWN says Rihanna needs to come Clean About Her Violence Too!

da BLITZ in the INDUSTRY

http://popawesome.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/Chris-Brown.JPG

Chris Brown has a whole team of men on his side. The National Coalition For Men has just put out a statement stating they stand by CB. And they are calling for Rihanna to fess up about her reported violence against Chris as well:

LOS ANGELES/EWORLDWIRE/Nov. 5, 2009 — Pop singer Rihanna recently made a widely publicized statement to Glamour Magazine that she wants to “shed light on the reality of domestic violence.” The National Coalition For Men (NCFM) calls on Rihanna to discuss her own reported violence against Brown as well if she wants to shed light on the problem honestly.

According to court records and other sources, Rihanna struck Brown in the face “numerous times” before Brown assaulted her (’http://news.ninemsn.com.au/entertainment/768865/rihanna-hit-chris-brow…’). NCFM purports although that would not justify his more severe assault, her violence should not be ignored, and if she does not “woman up” to it then her message will be the usual one-sided double standards that leave female perpetration covered up.

The saying, “There is no excuse for domestic violence,” applies to both sexes. Female violence in relationships is not rare but is often hypocritically deemed acceptable or humorous, such as in the film, Sideways. It is part of the cycle of domestic violence, which cannot be stopped without addressing the problem honestly. Children are damaged just by witnessing domestic violence, regardless of its severity.

A 32-nation study by the University of New Hampshire found women are as violent and as controlling as men in relationships worldwide (’http://www.unh.edu/news/cj_nr/2006/may/em_060519male.cfm?type=n’,
‘http://pubpages.unh.edu/~mas2/ID41E2.pdf’).

A major study funded by the Centers for Disease Control found one-fourth of heterosexual relationships had violence and: “half (49.7%) of those were reciprocally violent. In nonreciprocally violent relationships, women were the perpetrators in more than 70% of the cases.” (’http://www.ajph.org/cgi/content/abstract/97/5/941′)

The same study also found “while injury was more likely when violence was perpetrated by men, in relationships with reciprocal violence it was the men who were injured more often (25% of the time) than were women (20% of the time).” (’http://pn.psychiatryonline.org/cgi/content/full/42/15/31-a’)

Over 200 studies now confirm the same thing, that “women are as physically aggressive, or more aggressive, than men in their relationships with their spouses or male partners,” as California State University Professor Martin Fiebert shows in his online bibliography at ‘http://www.csulb.edu/~mfiebert/assault.htm’. This data is more reliable than criminal justice data because men are less likely to report the violence or to respond positively to crime surveys because society still does not consider female violence as much of a crime.

If Rihanna sincerely wants to raise awareness about domestic violence, NCFM calls on her to be forthcoming about her own violence and to address the problem honestly.

A year ago, after a historic election, Barack Obama stood before an electrified crowd in Chicago and proclaimed: "This is our moment."

A year later, his workaday world in the White House is plusher, more secluded and infinitely more sobering, with back-to-back meetings that begin with a daily briefing from the CIA.

Monday was the 287th day of his young presidency, a day that saw the leader of the free world surrounded by a swirl of people -- economic gurus, Cabinet members, a prime minister and giddy fellow alums of Harvard Law School -- or a seemingly solitary figure.

>>UMHMM THE REAL REASON. Well if you one to know the RADIO SPINS chart, which came out today like I do..then you know CB radio spins no more higher than the next artist soon to drop. NOW!!!!Anyone also knows top 10 on RnB/Hip charts is cool..but when your and POP artist ,or trying to Be..then the HOT 100 is the key chart for you & he is number who on it? umhmmm MY POINT.

She says that she ran into Bey at the Billboard Awards who asked her to write a verse on the song. Without giving up too much information, Lady Gaga said that she wanted to pay tribute to Beyonce so expect to see her as “Beyonce” in the video which will premiere tomorrow.

I so dig her personality. I am a little surprised that BET let her walk out on stage in that one piece with the cheeks hanging out though. *side eye* I have a feeling they gave her a pass but anyone else would have been instructed to cover up.
