She thanked the Academy for showing politics do not win over talent, Hattie McDaniel for setting out the way, Tyler Perry, Oprah, her attorneys, her entire BET and Precious families, and told her husband Sidney:
“Thank you for showing me that sometimes you have to forgo doing what’s popular in order to do what’s right. And baby…you were so right.”
